VIDEO ARCHIVE

Caution SMP.

My YouTube-inspired home for Caution SMP videos, delivered from private project infrastructure.

WHAT IT IS

The Caution SMP archive, built for watching.

I built Caution SMP as a YouTube-inspired library for Minecraft recordings. The footage needed a home; another folder called final_final was not going to help. It discovers supported video files in my private media library, extracts their metadata, creates thumbnails, and presents them in a searchable, responsive interface.

Open the library

Visit caution.zentr.dev from a modern browser. Watching does not require an account.

Choose a recording

Search by title, browse the latest uploads, or filter for long plays.

Watch and seek

The self-hosted Video.js player uses HTTP byte ranges, so playback can start and jump through the recording without downloading the entire file first.

Join the comments

Every recording has its own public comment thread. Sign in with a zentr.dev account, then post beneath the player using that account’s name and profile picture.

ARCHITECTURE & PRIVACY

Self-hosted streaming.

I run the site and media service on a private origin. I use a dedicated Cloudflare Tunnel to publish the HTTPS hostname without exposing that origin directly.

PartBehavior
Video libraryFiles are read from the dedicated private video library and are not copied into the Zentr project index.
ThumbnailsGenerated with ffmpeg and cached in private project storage.
PlaybackVideo bytes are streamed from the private origin through Cloudflare with a self-hosted Video.js interface. Ordinary network providers can process connection metadata as part of delivery.
CommentsComments require a zentr.dev account. The account’s stable identifier, current display name and optional profile picture, plus the message and posting time, are stored in private project storage. Request metadata such as IP addresses may be processed for delivery and rate limiting, but is not written into the comment record.
AvailabilityThe library depends on the origin service, internet connection, and tunnel being online.
